Services:

Lactation consultant services are provided by Joy Knapton, IBCLC. These 1 on 1 sessions take place in a private peaceful room at The Fem PT clinic which is just off of Forest Road. These services can take place during pregnancy and/or postpartum in order to assist mothers in a variety of ways whether the focus be on breastfeeding, pumping, flange fitting, bottle refusal, returning to work, weaning, or any of the questions that arise with feeding baby!

Joy is happy to guide you at any point in your breastfeeding journey, but many parents find it’s most helpful to connect with an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) someone who is trained to manage both straightforward and more complex issues – before baby arrives.

Support that is given with meeting with an IBCLC:

• Encouragement/Navigating through what feeding plan is best for you and your baby.

• Prenatal session learning products that are helpful postpartum 

• Learning to feed in different positions

• Feeding with multiples 

• Discussing when nipple look creased of flattened or discomfort with feedings. 

• Talk through the pros and cons of different feeding options 

• Latching feels like pinching or biting 

• Cracked bleeding of damaged nipples

• Full/heavy-feeling breasts, even after feeding

• Soft/empty-feeling breasts, even before feeding 

• Cracked, bleeding, damaged nipples

• Clogged ducts or feeling like milk is stuck

• Pumping or supplementing when it wasn’t part of your original plan

• Relying on a nipple shield with no end in sight

• “Triple feeding” with no end in sight

• Feeling like every feed is a struggle

• Baby has a slow weight gain pattern

• Baby often fussy, even right after a feed

• Baby unable to stay latched and popping on and off the breast

• Baby spitting up after most feedings

• Baby leaking milk out of the corners of the mouth while latched

• Baby makes smacking or clicking sounds while latched

  Cost:

• Initial Prenatal/Postpartum Lactation Consultation* ( up to 2 hours)  - $200

• Lactation Follow-Up* (1 hour) - $125

• Telehealth Lactation Consultation (1 hour) - $75
